2013, Shanghai Natural bio-engineering attended the CPHI here in Shanghai, China in June, and going to acquire Changsha Kaimei Essence and Flavor Co., Ltd to enlarge business range and product portfolio.
In 2012, President Liu invested a fermentation laboratory in Urumqi Hi-tech Industrial Development zone in Wulumuqi city, Xinjiang Province. The National Hi-tech Park is to be completed in 2015.
In 2011, President Liu signed contracts with the Changsha government and bought 100 acres land for strategic development in Changsha Bio & Information Industry Park (Liuyang National Economic & Technical Development Zone. Shanghai Natural bio-engineering attended the 9th CPHI Shanghai China from June 23 to June 25, 2011, and then Supplyside East in the United States from April 26 to April 28, and then CPHIMumbai, India from November 30th to December2 of the same year.
In 2010, the capacity for manufacturing and resveratrol and artemisinin continues to grow, and some ingredients are developed, such as vincamine, vinpocetine, Curcumin, etc.
In 2009, atemisinin came to a normal stage, and the output and price is stable. A laboratory for fermentation is registered in May, and the lab name is Shanghai Chuyuan Industrial Co., Ltd, also in Songjiang technology zone. We attended the API exhibition in Xi’an in the same year. Shanghai Nautural Bio-Engineering attended supplyside exhibition each year from now on.
In May, 2008, Shanghai Natural Bio-engineering Co., Ltd moved from Pudong New area to Shanghai Songjiang Industry Zone. Business in Changsha and Shanghai runs well in a virtuous cycle. Annual output and sales is over 30 tons. From June 24 to June 26 of 2008, Shanghai Natural Bio-engineering attended the 8th CPHI in Shanghai, China, and in October, Shanghai Zheyuan Pharmaceutical Technology Research Institute, the research center of Shanghai Bio-engineering was established to support innovative product and quality assurance. And it is our first time to attend the exhibition overseas in API Mumbai, India from November 28th
In 2007, the price for artemisinin dropped dramatically from about USD1330/KG to less than USD200/kg. More than 100 artemisinin manufacturers in China went bankruptcy overnight. No more than 3 companies survived in this crisis, but we made it and attended the 7th CPHI in Shanghai, China from June19 to June21 of 2007. In September, two buildings at the center of Shanghai technology zone were purchased by Shanghai Natural Bio-engineering Co., Ltd to meet the need of business development.
In May of 2006, Hunan Keyuan was certified by ISO14001:2004. The annual demand for artemisinin reached 50 tons, and the production line was enlarged accordingly. In the same year, Progesterone and other hormone-related products entered in to Indian Market with annual output of 20 tons. And the most important thing in 2006 is that Shanghai Natural Bio-engineering Co., Ltd, the sales subsidiary of Hunan Keyuan Bio-products Co., Ltd, is registered in Pudong New Area. And a new era has just begun.
In 2005, the Artemisinin series products were under mass production; in June of that year, ISO9000:2000 Standard line is set up, and signed big annual sales contracts with Novartis, a well-known healthcare company ranking within World Fortune 500. Hormone products entered in to the market as well. To all Keyuan employees, we remember that it is our first attendance in CPHI China from June 14th to June 16th, and it is the 5th CPHI China. We all remember it clearly. In December; Hunan Keyuan Bio-engineering Co., Ltd was honored as the Hi-Tech Enterprise by the local government.
In February of 2004, sales department were set up in both Changsha & Shanghai; and Artemisinin was the star ingredient of the year and demand for artemisinin and its derivatives were on the rise. In the April of 2004, Hunan Keyuan Bio-products Co., Ltd is certified by ISO9000:2000.
In 2003, President Liu and his wife Ms Deng bought a local chemical plant covering an area of 120 acres. In September of 2003, Hunan Keyuan Bio-engineering Co., Ltd was established in this local chemical factory in Changsha, China.
In 2000, President Liu left Hunan Agricultural University, and rented a factory started to develop some innovative products for some domestic clients. New products popular at that time such as Epimedium extract (Icariin 98%), Tribulus terristris L extract etc were firstly developed within China.
In 1995, Liu Zhiqiang, now president of Hunan keyuan Bio-products Co., Ltd, joined Hunan Agricultural University as the primary R&D chemist for herbal extracts for many companies in Changsha and companies from other cities of China. President Liu was the first biochemists engaging in phytochemical nutrition. During that five years, he developed more than 300 herbal extract products, such as Tea Polyphenols, theanine from green tea extract, Ginkgo biloba extract, European blueberry extract, 5-htp (Griffonia simplicifolia seed extract), Luo Han Guo, Echinacea extract, etc.
